MOSCOW – Russia's newest nuclear-powered submarine Generalissimo Suvorov test-launched a Bulava intercontinental ballistic missile, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Thursday.

The strategic submarine fired the missile from underwater in the White Sea and the warheads successfully hit targets in the Kura test range in the Kamchatka Peninsula, the ministry said in a statement.

Generalissimo Suvorov, the second vessel of the Borey-A class submarines, was undergoing the final phase of government certification tests before joining the Russian Pacific Fleet, TASS news agency reported.
